Lung Module:

  • Computer controlled:  Waveforms are initially provided for ventilation rates of 15,  22.5, 40, 62.5, 75 and 90 liters per minute with industry standard tidal volumes and a sinusoidal pattern. These waveforms can be easily added to or modified.
  • Extremely accurate, even with heavy breathing resistance.
  • Versatile:  can produce any physiologically reasonable waveform.  Can be placed within a pressure vessel while the control module remains outside (optional wire feedthru kit is available).
  • Smooth waveform generation, even at low RMV's, by use of a zero-backlash ball screw & servo motor drive.  None of the roughness in motion associated with stepper motor drives.
  • Easy to use and maintain:  design is elegantly simple and thus reduces potential testing anomalies.
  • Overload protection in the event of gas port blockage.
  • Device leakage protection:  breathing circuit collects and allows for on-line draining of water (for wet testing applications).  Tests do not have to be aborted due to nuisance leaks.
  • Instrumented:  includes respired volume and pressure transducer.

Data Acquisition and Control Module:

  • Personal Computer:  Latest standard PC included or customer can provide one for credit.
  • Data Acquisition Board: 8 analog input channels. 110 or 220 VAC power user specified.
  • Servo control system: digital motion controller and power supplies.

Software:

  • Motion control is provided by a versatile and general servo control program that provides a broad range of control options or can be modified as necessary using a simple control language.
  • An Excel spreadsheet is provided that calculates work of breathing and peak respiratory pressures for the device being tested. This program also prepares the data for printing.
  • A commercial data acquisition program is also provided for setting up test protocols and handling test data received thru the data acquisition board.
  • All data acquisition and manipulation processes have been developed and proven in Reimers' own pressure test lab under rigorous project conditions.
